From this strategic position, the strong points of innovative development and numerous patents can be combined successfully with manufacturing experience and a clear marketing strategy with minimum risks. FuMA-Tech has been able to transfer essential manufacturing experience gained from conventional ion exchange membrane production to fuel cell technology, making it possible for the company to supply excellent fluorinated membranes of the fumapem F-series as well as fluorine-free hydrocarbon type membranes of the fumapem P-series available by the roll. As far as hydrocarbon membranes are concerned, FuMA-Tech can rely on materials with a good track record in hydrolytic and chemical stability. These high-performance materials are applied in reformate/air and hydrogen/air fuel cells as well as in direct methanol fuel cells.
Proton-conductive membranes are currently developed and produced by a number of companies. To the worldwide patent for the production of up-graded perfluorinated membranes as well as for the production of stable fluorine-free hydrocarbon membranes can be added FuMA-Tech’s know-how and patents for the unique inorganic-organic multi-matrix membranes as well as the process for their manufacture and application. This ensures that FuMA-Tech’s products are and will be applied in all fuel cells types and operations at present and in the future.
