Aseptic product water treatment

The market for non-alcoholic drinks, particularly fruit juices, non-aerated water as well as mineral and table water with little CO2 is still undergoing positive development. Aseptic product water treatment is gaining in importance because it is necessary to fulfil the more stringent microbiological requirements for these drinks. In this respect, the membrane process in operation must satisfy the cleaning (CIP) and disinfection (SIP) requirements in a particular company as well as the legal requirements of the LMBG.

Fumatech® membrane systems provide maximum protection against bacteria, viruses, endotoxins, particles and turbidity. Membrane materials, modules and plant design as well as a complex control concept with CIP and SIP sequences guarantee long-term sterility. FuMA-Tech has developed and successfully implemented membranes, that can be cleaned with hot water (up to 85°C), to meet the highest demands.

The entire concept includes:

  • Optimised piping (total emptying, minimum dead space)
  • Special adjustment of the membrane elements to the pressure pipes
  • Dead-space-free membrane elements authorised by LMBG
  • fumasep® air filter cartridges, cleanable with hot water
  • fumados scale inhibitors consistent with ANSI/NSF standard 60
  • Protection from re-accummulation of germs by UV technique
  • Removal of chlorine by special sintered activated carbon cartridges
  • Control-engineering and mechanical integration into the existing infrastructure
  • Automatic CIP and SIP sequences
  • Conformity of all product-associated materials with FDA and LMBG

The plants are standardised and skid-mounted in single operation lines with flow rates of up to 60 m3 per hour.

We give particular attention to the sensitive issue of mineral water treatment. The tasks are just as diverse as they are challenging:

  • Fluoride removal by reverse osmois and precipitation
  • Ammonium removal
  • Sterile filtration
  • Elimination of foreign flavours

FuMA-Tech has developed a membrane process for the production of table water from seawater. The separation of seawater ingredients based on ions allows practically any desired composition of table water to be produced.
