Water is the most important raw material in the food and beverage industries, not only in the form of a product but also as a production aid, for example in cleaning processes. Although the quality of the water used may meet various requirements, the hygienic quality must always be perfect. Futhermore, the water used should not cause any changes in taste or odour nor result in precipitation or turbidity of the product.
The treatment of water to generate process water for the production of beverages via the membrane separation processes, reverse osmosis and nanofiltration was not invented by FuMA-Tech. For many decades, membrane separation processes have been used for:
- Desalination
- Softening
- Removal of nitrate
All unwanted ingredients such as hardening agents, nitrates, COD, pesticides and THM or lodoform have to be removed from the raw water along with microbiological agents. Only membrane processes can act as an absolute physical barrier between the filtrate and the unfiltrated element i.e. the raw water and product water, ensuring a consistent level of good product quality even at impact loading.
With the membrane processes:
- fumatech reverse osmosis and nanofiltration
- fumatech microfiltration and ultrafiltration
- fumatech electrodialysis
- as well as the fumatech RTF backflushable filters (0.2.up to 20 µm),
Various qualities of product water can be specifically generated from well water, municipal water or recycling water.
